Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Exercise and promote safety
- Operate overhead cranes
- Operate PLC screens to send recipes
- Build loads for up-ender
- Know the capacity for all hooks and shackles on heat treat heads
- Operate forklifts
- Handle and store chemicals properly
- Ensure loads are loaded into VHT furnaces properly
- Document time, temperature and weight of loads
- Operate vertical heat-treat tower
- Understand lift/tower, furnace/oven and quench/rinse
- Able to identify defects and what they look like
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: HS diploma or GED
- Minimum Experience: Ideally 6 months’ experience at UAC; experience in operating forklifts; working knowledge of computer programs for entering data; excellent organizational skills
- Certifications Required: Crane certification; Fall protection certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification; Pyrometry certification (certifications completed during new hire orientation)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communication Skills: Must speak, read and write English
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Reasoning Skills: Good reasoning and decision-making skills; ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; ability to learn how to operate complex machinery; able to coordinate and accomplish a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Physical Abilities: Required to stand 100% of the time; regularly required to reach with hands and arms; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at any time; must have adequate physical strength to load and unload up-ender; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
