Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Exercise and promote safety
- Know the tools required for each job and how to use them
- Load billets and process them through the peeler and press
- Complete quality checks: die lines, surface breaks, blisters, inclusions, flake, pickup, delamination and dog leg
- Understand correct runout temperatures
- Confirm extrusion speed
- Possess understanding of press process including temperatures, die rings, runouts, lengths, clearing butts, winches and finished pieces
- Label parts and maintain traceability
- Understand dies: temperatures, build, stage
- Identify billets and know where they are stored and how they are staged
- Know the difference between direct and indirect presses
- Operate ovens
- Operate presses with understanding
- Read and understand hard card information
- Read and understand prints
- Read and interpret oven and press pie charts
- Ensure quality of product meets specifications: dimensions, temperatures, fail, scrap, blisters, delamination
- Input production information into the computer
- Know downtime codes
- Understand production schedule
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum Experience: 3 months’ experience at UAC
- Certifications Required: Crane certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification (certifications completed during new hire orientation)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; able to assimilate ideas originated by others
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions
- Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
