Ball Ground Packer 1st Shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exercise and promote safety
  • Use small tools effectively (nail gun, skilsaw, Sawzall, air bander, sander, die grinder, stencil printer, etc.)
  • Inspect extruded aluminum for material quality
  • Verify piece count and length
  • Verify the shape matches the part drawing (visual only)
  • Examine and inspect stenciling on extruded aluminum per the traveler and UAC’s Standard Practices to ensure that it meets customer and industry specifications
  • Sand, buff and blend material for quality blemishes
  • Understand scrap tags
  • Read hard cards and fill out once a task is complete
  • Find and calculate weight and length
  • Calculate the required dunnage
  • Pull and stage materials
  • Understand the packing requirements for the load (bare bundles, Reddi-Paks, wood box, waterproof paper, cardboard, pallets)
  • Make shipping containers, handle and pack material in wooden or cardboard boxes using good commercial practices
  • Proficient with use of box machine
  • Apply corrosion inhibiting oil unless otherwise stated on the traveler
  • Understand the pack schedule
  • Understands how to efficiently interleave material
  • Complete paperwork as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum Experience: None
  • Certifications Required: Confined spaces certification; Crane certification; Fall protection certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; able to assimilate ideas originated by others
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
